Alprostadil. (Erectile dysfunction)

Alprostadil [al-PROS-ta-dil] is a PGE, analog that is naturally produced in tissues such as seminal vesicles and cavernous tissues, in the placenta, and in the ductus arteriosus of the fetus. PGE, maintains the patency of the ductus arteriosus during pregnancy. The ductus closes after delivery and allows normal blood circulation

between the lungs and the heart. In neonates with congenital heart
conditions, administering alprostadil keeps the ductus open, allowing
time until surgical correction is possible. Alprostadil is also used for
erectile dysfunction .
