Endometritis

 ENDOMETRITIS

Inflammation of the endometrium.It can be acute or chronic.  

. Endometritis is frequently a result of N. gonorrhoea  or C. trachomatis infection. Histologic examination shows Prominent lymphoid follicles may be seen, particularly coexisting with a stromal lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate. in chlamydial infection. Tuberculosis causes granulo- matous endometritis, frequently with associated tuberculous salpingitis and peritonitis.Tuberculous endometritis is common in countries in which tuberculosis is endemic, and it should be included in the differential diagnosis.

Endometritis also may be a result of retained tissue after conception subsequent to miscarriage or  foreign body e.g an intrauterine device. 

Clinically, endometritis often manifest with fever, abdominal pain, and menstrual abnormalities.
